Filling out a Google Form from the terminal using the curl command
Cheating a bit here by just linking to someone else’s blog post, but it’s very well written, with screenshots and different colors. Why reinvent the wheel? Here it is: Submit Google Forms By Curl Command

Disabling blocking applications for a Munki package
I was having a weird issue with CrashPlan, in which Munki was blocking CrashPlan from uninstalling because CrashPlan.app was supposedly running (the actual app wasn’t running‐just a CrashPlan-initiated launch daemon). Unfortunately, I didn’t actually read the documentation on blocking applications, because there is, in fact, a different between not specifying a blocking application and specifying…

Using duti to script default applications for Macs
Back story It was surprisingly difficult for me to find a straightforward tutorial on how to script changing the default applications for Macs. Forcing a Chrome homepage on Macs
Nick McSpadden has a great (and thorough) write-up on Deploying and Managing Google Chrome: The Rough Guide, and his recommendation is to have some initial Master Preferences that set a default, which can be overriden. In some cases, though (for example, we have some machines that will be used for Hour of Code next week…

Toggle Allow apps downloaded from anywhere
There’s a setting on Mac OS X for allowing apps to be installed from anywhere or only from signed developers. If you want to automate changing this setting via terminal command, this is how you do it. sudo spctl master-enable sudo spctl master-disable The spctl command is even more versatile than that. More details at…
